The nighe before the examination
The clock struck eleven at night. The whole house was quiet. Everyone was in bed except me. under the strong light, I looked gloomily before me at a huge pile of that disgusting stuff they call“books”
I was going to have my examination the next day.“when can I go to bed?”I asked myself. I did not answer. In fact I dared not.
The clock struck 12.“Oh, dear!”cried I , “Then more books to read before I can go to bed!” We students are the most wretched creatures in the world.

考试前夕
晚上十一点钟，整个屋子静悄悄的，除了我以外，每个人都睡了。在强烈的灯光下，我忧愁地望着那一堆摆在我面前，被称作“书本”的讨厌东西。
明天就要考试了，我问自己：“什么时候才能上床睡觉呢？”我没有回答，事实上我不敢。
钟敲十二点了，我大叫：“天啊！还要念十本书才能上床睡觉！”我们学生真是世界上最可怜的东西。
